Sparks

For Kindergarten through 2nd Grade

Sparks® ignites the curiosity of early elementary-age kids to learn about the people and events of the Bible, building a foundation of wisdom for knowing Christ.

To many children in kindergarten to second grade, Sparks is the highlight of the week! They love their red vests, the exciting games and spending time with leaders and friends.

Sparks is divided into three years, each with a unique rank: HangGlider®, WingRunner® and SkyStormer™. Each year, kids in Sparks:

• Explore the biographies of people of the Bible from a new portion of Scripture
• Memorize Bible verses
• Complete handbook activities

T&T

For 3rd through 6th Grade

The T&T (Truth & Training) curriculum teaches kids the truth of God's Word, trains them to follow Him and practice His grace. In this 4 year curriculum series, kids will explore the fundamental doctrines of Christianity including:

• The character and nature of God
• The structure and sequence of the Bible
• The redemption narrative
• Key practices for followers of Jesus

By encouraging kids to engage in highly biblical and highly relational discipleship, T&T helps students to grow and develop as lifelong followers of Jesus Christ.

What does a typical Awana night look like?

Opening: During opening all kids get checked in with their leaders, and we enjoy a time of singing, devotional and prayer with all ages together.

Then we divide into Sparks and T&T and rotate through game time, large group lesson and small group time.

Game time: Awana game time is a very active, team based game time using the traditional Awana game circle. There is a good variety of running and other creative types of games to make it fun for all kids, even those who might not love athletics. It's a time filled with excitement and lots of cheering on teammates!

Large group: Large group time is when the broader lesson for the week is introduced and all teams of either Sparks or T&T are learning together. Awards that the kids have earned from completing sections of their handbooks are also handed out and celebrated at this time.

Small group: Small group, also known as handbook time, is held in our classroom wing. Each child is assigned to a leader and small team that they will spend focused time with over the year. This time looks a little different based on whether they are in Sparks or T&T, but generally this is the time they will be working through their handbooks, reciting memorized Bible verses and spending some quieter time with their teammates and leaders.

We hope to see you there!
